Angelitos de Oro and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County

Angelitos de Oro is a volunteer women’s auxiliary, which supports Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County. Since its inception in 1961, Angelitos de Oro has donated more than $4,000,000 to this organization as a result of fundraising efforts.

Big Brothers Big Sisters is a nonprofit organization with the mission to help children reach their potential through professionally supported, one-on-one mentoring relationships. The organization achieves its mission by:

  • providing youth (Littles) with an adult or high school mentor that is consistent, and forms a relationship that is ongoing, supportive, educational, safe and fun;
  • supplying mentors (Bigs) with the resources and support they need to be effective mentors to at-risk youth; and
  • enhancing the ongoing relationship (Match) between a Big and a Little with enrichment activities and asset-building opportunities.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County serves over 1500 children through community, school and group-based mentoring programs each year. The programs provide the children with safe, quality relationships that help them develop by:

  • diminishing the negative impact of an absent mother or father on their well-being,
  • improving self esteem, motivation and achieving a greater sense of their future,
  • decreasing problematic, high-risk behaviors,
  • developing a positive attitude towards school and learning; and
  • improving relationships with family and peers.

Big Brothers Big Sisters is the oldest and largest youth mentoring organization in the United States.

The funds raised by the Angelitos Card truly make a difference in the lives of children in Orange County.
